Mental Health Society was founded by members of Mental Health Week to do what Mental Health Week could not do because Mental Health Week is a small online community.

Mental Health Society is funding the following projects:

- mental health research (publications and conferences),

- lendings to individuals in third world countries for mental illness prevention,

- respite holidays,

- day trips,

- disability employment services,

- funding medication,

- and counselling.
